While I was five years old and experiencing my first earthquake, over in New York nineteen-year-old DJ Pete Rock was spinning records for WBLS's now-legendary mix show In Control With Marley Marl. The show cemented Pete Rock as one of the greatest DJs out there, and with the help of his cousin Heavy D, he eventually caught the producing bug while hanging out with Hev's peers in the studio.
Here are two parts of In Control from 1989 to go with this beautiful weather (zShare):
PART ONE
PART TWO
I got into this after reading Wax Poetics Anthology, Vol. 2. Definitely worth a read.
